A rear hatch or trunk warning indicates that the vehicle may not recognize the closure as secure. Cargo, an incompletely engaged latch, or a sensing concern can be relevant, but the display alone cannot distinguish them.
While parked, check for obstructions and use the normal closing procedure. Do not force a powered liftgate or drive with an unsecured rear closure. Follow the owner's manual for any operating restrictions.
If the warning persists after proper closure, contact The Car Clinic of Miami. Note whether the rear interior light remains on or the power-opening function also behaves unexpectedly.
