A lane-assistance indicator may describe readiness, lane recognition, a departure warning, or a system concern. Display colors and symbols differ among vehicles, and temporary unavailability is not always a hardware failure.
Keep control of steering and monitor the road yourself. Lane markings, visibility, and other conditions can affect system availability. Read the accompanying message and the owner's manual before interpreting a change in the indicator.
